The 2008 span national convergence

WHAT:
The SPAN Summer Convergence is a national gathering of SPAN chapters and other students interested in peace and social justice activism. It's a fun weekend full of skill shares, strategizing sessions, trainings, opportunities to network with other activists, and free entertainment!
WHO:
Open to students and youth of all ages and experience levels. It’s a great way to get involved with SPAN for the first time as well as for existing groups to get plugged in with others from across the country.
WHY:
1) Have FUN in Washington, DC
2) Build STUDENT POWER
3) NETWORK and meet other students from across the country
4) LEARN how to be effective activists and share skills with other students
5) STRATEGIZE, coordinate our campaigns between schools, and make demands
6) BRIDGE THE GAP between our generation of activists and the broader peace movement

WE NEED HELP!
HOW TO GET INVOLVED WITH PLANNING:
This convergence is what we make it. Organizing the convergence itself is a great way to make connections with other activists beforehand and it's never too late to get involved. The entire process is open to anyone that wants to help.
Since organizers for this convergence are students from all over the country, we're using two ways to communicate with each other:
1. JOIN THE GOOGLE GROUP/E-MAIL LIST:
Visi ourt google group to join our google group and e-mail listserv. Once you've joined the google group, you can contact the entire list by sending an e-mail to span-convergence@googlegroups.com. (Note: you must join the google group before you can e-mail the list).
2. CONFERENCE CALLS:
We announce our conference calls over the google group e-mail list.
3. FLIERS:

Third Friday of Every Month
On the third Friday of every month, SPAN students are taking action to show their opposition to the U.S. occupation of Iraq. What are you doing?

Intern with SPAN for school credit in D.C.
Want to learn how to be an effective activist? Want to become a key organizer for a national network of student activists? Want to earn college credit doing something you love?
